Our origins & evolution

One small community.
A movement in motion.

Genius Girls Empowering Movement (GGEM) is a women-led, member-based empowerment organisation founded on August 9, 2020, with a commitment to empowering young women and girls through leadership, personal development, education, mentorship and social impact initiatives. What started as a small WhatsApp community of young women with a shared desire to learn, grow and support one another has evolved into a purpose-driven movement creating impact in communities across Ghana.

We equip young women with knowledge, confidence, leadership skills and opportunities to become change-makers within their communities, while creating platforms through which they can extend that impact to younger girls. Our work focuses particularly on basic school girls and young people in underserved communities, where access to mentorship, career guidance, health education and personal development opportunities can be limited.
